Sendhil Ramamurthy Interview with TV Insider

Sendhil Ramamurthy sat down for an interview with TV Insider’s Jim Halterman (@JimHalterman on Twitter) this week. Jim has covered Sendhil’s career since his days on Heroes and Covert Affairs and catches up with him to talk about Sendhil’s thoughts on Never Have I Ever and The Flash! From South Asian representation on television to his surprise at the size of the audience for the show, Sendhil covers all of the bases in this great chat.

Never Have I Ever follows 15-year-old Devi Viswakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) dealing with her first love and family drama in the wake of her father Mohan’s (Ramamurthy) sudden passing. And while the comedy with heart may have seemed targeted at a specific demo, the Mindy Kaling production had the kind of word-of-mouth that made it into a big hit with viewers across the spectrum.

An amusing question Jim asked was who Sendhil would like to narrate in a Mohan (Devi’s Dad) in an episode. With Sendhil’s hero, tennis great John McEnroe as Devi’s narrator and SNL comedian Andy Samberg taking over the narration for the Ben Cohen focused episode, Sendhil suggested South Asian tennis greats Vijay Amritraj or Mahesh Bhupathi. Our hot take would be that Sendhil does double duty as “renown geneticist Mohinder Suresh” whose narrations were always legendary for Heroes fans! But we’d love your thoughts on who YOU think should narrate a Mohan focused episode! Drop your suggestions in the comments or tweet us @SendhilFans!
