Sendhil was also seen in the independent film After Everything alongside Marisa Tomei and Shameless star Jeremy Allen White.

Sendhil’s roles span not only television but theater and film as well. Most recognizable from NBC’s Heroes as geneticist Mohinder Suresh and from USA Network’s Covert Affairs as Jai Wilcox, Sendhil has parlayed his exposure with a leading role in Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K.’s Shor in the City.

He also had a supporting role in Gurinder Chadha’s It’s a Wonderful Afterlife, as well as an appearance in 2012 as Raj, the boyfriend of Mindy Kaling’s Kelly Kapoor on NBC’s The Office. Born into a family of distinguished doctors, Sendhil originally attended Tufts University as a pre-med student, but after being cast in Timberlake Wertenbaker’s Our Country’s Good during his junior year, his career path took an abrupt turn from medicine to acting.

He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history and then attended the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Sendhil remained in London and appeared in stage productions including A Servant of Two Masters, and on ITV’s Ultimate Force and BBC’s Casualty before moving to New York City. Sendhil has also appeared in two short films directed by Mahesh Pailoor, 2001’s Little India, and 2007’s A Temporary Matter — a film based on Jhumpa Lahiri’s extraordinary short story.
